Kudos for... Based on Michael's application, his school has been selected as one of 15 new schools to receive an AS-1 seismometer through the IRIS (Incorporated Research Institutions for Seismology) Seismographs in Schools program! Brunt will be attending a two-and-a-half-day training workshop September 19-21, 2008, at the University of Missouri-Kansas City in Kansas City, MO, that will cover the basics of setting up and using the seismograph, an overview of the associated software, instruction in how to manipulate and analyze seismic data, and methods of sharing data locally and across the country. IRIS is completely covering the cost of the workshop! Congratulations, Michael! |
| About Michael... "I teach 8th grade Pre-Ap Science at Eagle Pass Junior High, but I live in Del Rio. This is my tenth year of teaching and my third year back in Texas. Previously, I taught Earth Science for two years at Pueblo Magnet High School in Tuscon, Arizona. I was born in West Virginia, however, I grew up and went to school in the south suburbs of Chicago. I am a graduate of Western Illinois University and I received my teaching certification through Sul Ross State University. I am currently pursuing my Masters of Science in Science Education (MSSE) through Montana State University. Before teaching I was a firefighter for a combination of fifteen years both in the US Airforce and the city of Del Rio, Texas. And, I am a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan...always have been...always will be!!!" |
