Overview

This activity utilizes the 5E pedagogical method to explore and identify the different rock types: igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic.


Research and Testing of This Activity

This activity was implemented in the following teacher professional development workshops: (1) TXESSS Revolution PDA 1A (2008), PDA 6B,C (2010), funded by the National Science Foundation Opportunities for Enhancing Diversity in the Geosciences program. Feedback from teachers was used to refine the activity.

Teachers who attended PDA 1A, 6B, and 6C rated the activity as shown in the tables below.
